February 24, 2008 LaGRANGE, GA- The Monarchs dropped a tough one to LaGrange Saturday afternoon, but came back with a 7-4 victory on Sunday. Methodist moves to 8-3 this season while LaGrange stands at 3-3 overall. The Monarchs went hitless in the first, but junior Kenly Locklear started things off in the second with a single up the middle. Locklear was called out on senior Kyle Eudy's fielder's choice but Eudy moved to second on a failed pickoff attempt. Junior Billy Quinn reached on a dropped fly and Eudy scored on the play for the 1-0 lead. Junior Brad Davis' single to right field scored Quinn to give the Monarchs a two run advantage. Methodist scored again in the top of the fifth inning on a RBI single from senior Michael Carter, but LaGrange came back and scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a hit and an error. The Panthers took a 4-3 lead in the sixth, but Methodist regained the lead in the seventh. Locklear grounded into a fielder's choice with bases loaded that allowed two runs to score. Methodist added two insurance runs in the eighth on a two-RBI single from Halpin through the left side. Junior Elliott Bisplinghoff went five and two thirds innings before sophomore Josh Andrade picked up his second win in two days after one and a third innings. The Monarchs will host Capital on Tuesday at 4 pm.
