Over Piedmont
Junior Dustin Proctor hit a 3-run home run in the eighth

the bottom of the third but came from behind to win
16-6 over the 11th ranked Piedmont Lions. The Monarchs

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Monarchs jumped out to an early
3-0 lead and cruised to a 7-3 victory over 11th ranked
Piedmont on Monday night. Prior to the game head coach
Tom Austin was recognized for his 900th career win and
eight seniors were honored for their contributions to
the Methodist baseball program. With the win, the Monarchs
move to 27-15-1 overall while Piedmont is 33-11 this

Austin Wins 900th Career Game
Monarchs split with Birmingham-Southern in doubleheader
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Methodist University head baseball
coach Tom Austin entered the 2008 season ranked fourth
in victories by active Division III coaches. He needed
26 wins to earn his 900th career win and it wasn't easy,
but the Monarchs won 12-11 in extra innings over Birmingham-Southern
for the milestone victory. Methodist dropped the second
game 6-3 to move to 26-15-1 on the season. Birmingham-Southern
moves to 20-21 this year. release

Men's golf and women's tennis win Tournament Championships

Athletic Conference held their annual Spring Sports
Festival in Burlington, N.C. April 17-20 with Methodist

tennis took top honors with Tournament Championships

in 12 innings. Christopher Newport came back from an

the ninth but the Monarchs scored the game-winning run

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Emory came back from a six run deficit
to take the lead in the sixth. The Monarchs regained
the lead, but Emory tied the game in the ninth to send
the game into extra innings. The teams managed a scoreless
tenth inning before the umpires called the game due
to poor field conditions as the result of steady rain.

Sophomore Seth Kivett tallies four hits including a

NC - The calendar still says it's winter, but
the 2008 Methodist baseball team opened up their season
on a beautiful, warm Saturday at Armstrong-Shelley Field.
Randolph-Macon struck first, but the Monarchs rattled
off 17 hits to take the 12-2 win. Methodist opens at
1-0 overall while Randolph-Macon falls to 0-2 this season.
