Prior to the game head coach Tom Austin was recognized for his 900th career win and eight seniors were honored for their contributions to the Methodist baseball program. With the win, the Monarchs move to 27-15-1 overall while Piedmont is 33-11 this season. release

Monarchs split with Birmingham-Southern in doubleheader
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Methodist University head baseball coach Tom Austin entered the 2008 season ranked fourth in victories by active Division III coaches. He needed 26 wins to earn his 900th career win and it wasn't easy, but the Monarchs won 12-11 in extra innings over Birmingham-Southern for the milestone victory. Methodist dropped the second game 6-3 to move to 26-15-1 on the season. Birmingham-Southern moves to 20-21 this year. release
