Methodist Eliminates NC Wesleyan, 14-7 
Dustin Proctor was 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored

BURLINGTON, NC - Methodist University advanced to the USA South title game as they eliminated NC Wesleyan by a score of 14-7 on Saturday at the Burlington Athletic Stadium.

Methodist opened the scoring with three runs in the first highlighted by Matt Ellsworth's 2-RBI double. MU would add a single run in the second to lead 4-0.

The Bishops responded with three in the top of the third to cut the lead to 4-3. But the Monarchs countered with a five-run bottom of the third to take the lead 8-3. Dustin Proctor was responsible for three of the Monarchs five runs in the third on a towering three-run homer to left.

Methodist added another run in the bottom of the fourth to lead 10-3.

NC Wesleyan cut into the lead by scoring three more in the top of the sixth to trail 10-6. Chris Pecora's single to left center scored two while Justin Batts walked with the bases loaded forcing in another run.

The Monarchs scored a single run in the sixth to increase their lead to 11-6 and would tack on three more in the bottom of the eighth. NC Wesleyan's Jason Webb hit a solo shot in the ninth for the final margin.

Proctor led the way for the Monarchs going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Ellsworth finished 4-for-5 with four RBI, Jonathon Spivey was 2-for-5 with four runs scored and Matt Hunt was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Mark Wooten and Williford each went 2-for-4 for the Bishops while Batts was 1-for-4 with two runs driven in.

NC Wesleyan falls to 26-15 overall while Methodist improves to 25-10. The Monarchs will take on Ferrum in the championship of the USA South Tournament Sunday at 12 pm.
