The USA
South
Athletic
Conference
released
its
first
weekly
baseball
awards
of the
2006
season
on
Monday,
and the
Methodist
Monarchs
were
amongst
the
representation.
Freshman
catcher
Dustin
Proctor
was
selected
as the
USA
South
Rookie
of the
Week.
Proctor,
a
5-foot-11,
195-pounder
from
Whiteville,
N.C., is
hitting
.333
(3-for-9)
in
Methodist’s
first
five
games of
the
season
with
three
runs
scored
and two
RBIs.
His big
game
last
weekend
was the
second
game of
a
doubleheader
at
LaGrange
on
Sunday.
He went
3-for-5
with a
double,
triple,
two RBIs
and two
runs
scored.
Methodist
(4-1)
opens
both its
home
portion
and USA
South
portion
of the
season
on
Saturday
and
Sunday
with a
three-game
showdown
against
rival
Ferrum.
The two
teams
will
play a
doubleheader
on
Saturday
at 12
p.m.,
and a
single
game on
Sunday
at 2
p.m.
