Three Monarchs Honored by USA South
Antonio Bartee, Husein Nasiro-Sigo and Whitney Roberson receive honors

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- 
The USA South announced Monday afternoon three Methodist athletes received awards for their efforts in competition.  The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Sophomore Antonio Bartee from Gainesville, Florida was honored as the Football Offensive Rookie of the Week after the team's 31-7 win against Chowan on Saturday.  In his second start at quarterback, Bartee went 8-of-10 passing for 92 yards and rushed 9 times for 71 yards.  The football team will travel to NC Wesleyan on Saturday to face the Bishops at 1 pm.

Junior cross country runner Husein Nasiro-Sigo was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after leading his team to a 5th place finish at the adidas Raleigh Invitational in Cary, NC on Saturday.  A native of Koffela, Ethiopia and the reigning USA South Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, Nasiro-Sigo placed 10th out of 61 runners with a time of 15:41 against NCAA Division I and II competition.  Cross country will host a dual meet with Fayetteville State on Wednesday before traveling ot the Guilford Invitational on Saturday.

Whitney Roberson has been named the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.  A freshman from Kitty Hawk, NC, Roberson assisted on Chrystal Bradley's first goal against Greensboro on Thursday and then scored her second collegiate hat trick against Meredith on Saturday to register 7 points during the week.  The women's soccer team will travel to Averett on Wednesday to face the Cougars at 4 pm.
