Patton, Nasiro-Sigo, and Lawrence Honored as USA South Athletes of the Week
Nasiro-Sigo wins award for third consecutive week

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- 
The USA South has announced their athletes of the week for all fall sports.  The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Krystal Patton, a junior from Hope Mills, NC wins the Athlete of the Week for the first time this season. She has led the Monarchs in every meet this season. Patton placed 42nd on Saturday at the Greensboro Invitational out of 191 competitors.  She came in at 21:44, already surpassing her personal record from last season.

Junior cross country runner Husein Nasiro-Sigo was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third consecutive week.  Nasiro-Sigo won the Greensboro Invitational on Saturday and helped his team to a 12th place finish.  A native of Koffela, Ethiopia and the reigning USA South Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, Nasiro-Sigo the 8K in a time of 25:43 against many NCAA Division I and II competitors.  Both the men's and women's cross country teams will travel to the Hagan-Stone Invitational on Saturday.

Daryl Lawrence, a junior from Jacksonville, NC earned the USA South Defensive Player of the Week after making 12 tackles and recording two sacks against Emory & Henry on Saturday.  Lawrence led the defense in holding the Wasps to 13 yards rushing in 28 attempts in the entire game.  This marks the first week Lawrence has received the award this season.  The football team will host Averett University on Saturday at 1 pm.
