October 8, 2007 CELEBRATION, FL - The Methodist cross country teams headed south this weekend to compete at the Walt Disney Cross Country Classic. More than 700 student-athletes across all three divisions gathered to run in the men's 8K race or the women's 5K race. The Monarchs' men's team finished 36th amongst 41 men's teams. Methodist senior Husein Nasiro-Sigo took off his shoes during the race, running the majority of the 8K barefoot and still finished 8th overall with a time of 25:43.19. Freshman Travis Fulp finished second for the Monarchs with a time of 35:33.70. Freshman Jay Harris was right behind him in 35:43.73 with sophomore Chase Pattillo running a 35:54.80. Sophomore Spencer Hensley cracked the top five to complete the scoring with a time of 38:04.68. In the women's race, senior Krystal Patton finished first for Methodist with a time of 22:15.49. Junior Diane Doroftei ran the race in 23:11.89 and sophomore Jen Kiner ran a 24:02.52. Freshman Kristy Zeiler finished in 24:33.88. The Monarchs will host a tri-meet on Wednesday to start at 4 pm. |
