August 24, 2008 FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - A number of Methodist's cross country runners opened the 2008 season by participating in the Hot Summer Day 5K hosted by the Methodist University Physician's Assistant Program. Six women represented the Monarchs with freshman Megan Rose leading the team in 20:36.7. Rose finished second amongst all females while sophomore Kristy Zeiler was fourth in 22:16.4. Senior Diane Colette Starrantino finished sixth in 22:18.5. Sophomore Kaitlin Flaherty placed 19th in 25:59.3 and junior Jennifer Kiner was right behind her at 25:59.7. Sophomore Heather Brayton finished 21st in 26:09.8. Sophomore Travis Fulp led the men with a eighth place finish in 19:57.0. Junior Chase Pattillo placed 21st in 22:15.9 and sophomore Frank Olivarez was 38th in 24:15.7. The Monarchs will compete in the Adidas Cross Country Invitational in Cary, N.C. Sept. 12.
