Nasiro-Sigo comes up
short in NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country national
championship bid
DELEWARE, Ohio – The
opportunity for an NCAA Division III individual national
championship and All-American honors came up a little short for
Methodist runner Husein Nasiro-Sigo on Saturday at the NCAA
Division III Cross Country Championships.
The Monarchs’ Mason-Dixon Conference, USA South Athletic
Conference and Division III South/Southeast Region champion was
amongst the leaders heading into the final stretch of the race.
However, Nasiro-Sigo fell with a mile-and-a-half to go and could
not finish the race.
He was running in the lead pack with Williams’ Neal Holtschulte,
Widener’s Macharia Yuot and Calvin’s Tim Finnegan when the
accident took place. Holtschulte eventually won the national
championship on the men’s side in a time of 25:28.9. In the team
competition, Wisconsin-La Crosse won the Division III National
Championship with 92 points.
