Taylor, Patton, Patterson sweep USA South men’s and women’s cross country honors for Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
The USA South Athletic Conference issued its four weekly honors for men’s and women’s cross country on Monday, and three of the honors went to runners from Methodist. Ryan Taylor and Krystal Patton were selected USA South Men’s and Women’s Runner of the Week, respectively, while Jennifer Patterson received USA South Women’s Freshman Runner of the Week honors.

It marks the first time this 2005 season that Methodist has been represented in the USA South weekly honors for cross country.

Taylor, a junior from Parkersburg, WVa., led the Monarchs to a 30th place finish at the Walt Disney World Classic. Taylor finished the Orlando, Florida event with a time of 32:16 to place 165th out of 275 runners. He had the highest finish of any Methodist male runner in an event that included 275 runners at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels.

Patton, a sophomore from Hope Mills, N.C., completed the Walt Disney World Classic course with a time of 23:50 to finish 230th overall in the Women’s University Race. She had the highest finish of any Methodist women’s runner in the 304-runner event. Patterson, a freshman from Miami, finished 285th in the Women’s University Race in the Walt Disney World Classic in a time of 28:52.

Methodist’s next meet is the North State Collegiate Championships on Saturday in Pleasanton, N.C.
