Methodist’s Nasiro-Sigo, Patton sweep USA South Runner of the Week honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
Methodist swept USA South Athletic Conference Runner of the Week honors for men’s and women’s cross country on Monday. Husein Nasiro-Sigo was selected USA South Men’s Runner of the Week, while Krystal Patton was the USA South Women’s Runner of the Week.

It marks the second straight week that Nasiro-Sigo has received the men’s honor, and the second time in the last two weeks that Patton has received the women’s honor.

A sophomore from Koffela, Ethiopia, Nasiro Sigo won his second conference championship in his Monarch career. He captured the Mason-Dixon Conference men’s individual championship on Saturday at Mary Washington with a time of 25:47. It marked the third individual championship this season for the defending USA South Athletic Conference men’s champion.

A sophomore from Hope Mills, N.C., Patton had the best finish for a Lady Monarch at the Mason-Dixon Conference championship on Saturday. She finished 29th with a time of 26:03.

Both Methodist teams compete this Saturday in the USA South Athletic Conference Championship at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro.
