November 15, 2007 FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for football. A total of 87 student-athletes have earned USA South All-Conference honors. Methodist senior Daryl Lawrence has been named the Defensive Player of the Year for his efforts. Lawrence, a Jacksonville, North Carolina senior linebacker, led the USA South with 67 solo tackles and was third in total tackles with 111. On the season, Lawrence tallied a team-high three sacks with five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. This season marks the third all-conference honor for Lawrence. He was named First Team All-Conference this season and the previous one to go along with Second Team honors in 2005. Finally, Lawrence was named USA South Defensive Player of the Week once this fall. Methodist senior Patrick Doleman and sophomore Brandon Iseman received second team honors. Doleman, a wide receiver, finished the season with 726 yards rushing to go along with five touchdowns in his final season. Iseman was a mainstay on the offensive line in just his second season with the team. Seven players received Honorable Mention honors this year. Senior tailback Mike Hill, sophomore quarterback Brandon Parks, senior wide receiver Jonathan Mularski, sophomore offensive lineman Bill Samuels, sophomore center Joshua Kesler, senior defensive lineman Sean Merritt, and sophomore safety Brian Leary were all honored. For the first time, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team including a member from each conference school who have demonstrated integrity and honor during the season. Lawrence was chosen to represent Methodist. The Monarchs finished the season in a tie for third place in the USA South after winning the last three games.
