Monarchs Named to Don Hansen's All-Region Football Team
Senior George Sands named to the Second Team as kick returner

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  Don Hansen's Football Gazette has released the NCAA Division III South All-Region Team for the 2006 season.  Three Monarchs received honors for their play this past fall including George Sands, Patrick Larkin, and Daryl Lawrence.

Senior George Sands (Homestead, FL) received second team honors as a kick returner.  Sands had caught 17 kick-offs to run for 470 yards including a 54 yard kick return against Guilford to open the season.  Sands averaged more than 27 yards per return.

Senior kicker Patrick Larkin (Swansboro, NC) was an honorable mention selection.  Larkin was 11-16 for field goals including a perfect 3-3 against Shenandoah in the final game of his career to give the Monarchs all the offense they would need to earn the 9-7 victory.

Junior Daryl Lawrence (Jacksonville, NC) was also an honorable mention selection registering 66 tackles with a team-high 3 sacks this past season.
