Monarch football
players report for 2005
preseason camp
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
Methodist head football coach
Jim Sypult welcomed back
approximately 125 players to
campus on Tuesday, signaling the
start of the 2005 Methodist
football season with the
beginning of preseason camp. The
Monarchs are coming off a 7-3
season in 2004, which included
finishing third in the USA South
Athletic Conference.
Methodist is picked third in the
2005 USA preseason poll.
The Monarchs checked into their
dorm rooms on Tuesday, followed
by an evening dinner and the
first official team meeting.
Preseason camp will last
approximately two weeks before
the rest of the student body
returns to campus. The Monarchs
will have conditioning and skill
tests on Wednesday, followed by
the first official practice on
Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Methodist’s first full gear
practice will be on Monday (Aug.
15), and the first intrasquad
scrimmage is set for Aug. 18.
The Monarchs open the 2005
season at Salisbury on Sept. 3,
and the first home game is Sept.
24 against North Carolina
Wesleyan at Monarch Stadium.
