Monarchs’
Roncketti selected USA South
Offensive Player of the Week
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
For the fourth time this 2005
season, Chris Roncketti received
the top offensive weekly honor
in the USA South Athletic
Conference. On Monday, the
Methodist quarterback was
honored as the USA South
Offensive Player of the Week for
his stellar performance in the
Monarchs’ season-ending 35-0
rout over Shenandoah.
A senior from Hope Mills, N.C.,
Roncketti completed 13-for-22
passes for 279 yards and three
touchdown passes, and also
rushed five times for 13 yards
with one touchdown in the
Methodist victory. In addition,
the 279 yards through the air
gave Roncketti 2,234 yards
passing for the season, making
him the first quarterback in
Methodist history to eclipse
2,000 yards passing in a season.
The victory by the Monarchs,
coupled with Christopher
Newport’s 44-7 rout at Ferrum,
gives Methodist a share of the
USA South title. It’s the first
ever football conference
championship for Methodist,
which finished the season 8-2
overall and 6-1 in the
conference.
