Methodist’s
Roncketti selected USA South
Offensive Player of the Week
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
For the second time this 2005
football season, Chris Roncketti
has garnered USA South Athletic
Conference Offensive Player of
the Week honors. He was first
selected two weeks in leading
the Monarchs to a thrilling
come-from-behind victory at
Averett. On Monday, he was
honored again for his
record-setting performance over
the weekend against rival
Christopher Newport.
A senior quarterback from Hope
Mills, N.C., Roncketti completed
20-for-29 passes for 323 yards
with one touchdown as the
Monarchs turned back Christopher
Newport 35-28 at Monarch
Stadium. He also added 45 yards
rushing on seven carries and a
touchdown. In turn, Roncketti
became the first Methodist
quarterback to ever pass for 300
or more yards in a game. He
also, broke the previous
single-game record for passing
yards of 297, set by Brian
Turner against Chowan in 1998.
In addition, Roncketti tied the
Methodist single-game record for
completions.
For the season, Roncketti has
completed 91-for-159 passes for
1,381 yards with eight
touchdowns to rank second in the
USA South in passing yardage. He
leads the USA South in total
offense with 1,725 yards.
