Shuford and Smith Honored as USA South Athletes of the Week
Methodist student-athletes receive weekly conference honors

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South has announced their athletes of the week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Antwin Shuford has been selected as the USA South Player of the Week. The junior forward from Statesville, North Carolina led the Monarchs to a 100-83 victory over Piedmont in the team's only action last week. Shuford had a co-team high 19 points on 9-of-11 (82%) shooting from the floor. He also grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists, had three steals and blocked one shot in the win.

LeuMichael Smith has been selected as the USA South Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. The Clarkton, North Carolina freshman guard helped the Monarchs to a 100-83 victory over Piedmont in the team's only action last week. Smith tallied a co-team high 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor and a 6-of-9 performance at the free throw line. Smith also contributed seven rebounds, a game-high six steals and two assists in the win.

The men's basketball team USA South Conference play on Thursday at Greensboro College at 7:30 pm.
