Smith Honored as USA South Rookie Athlete of the Week
Methodist student-athlete receives weekly conference honors

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South has announced their athletes of the week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

LeuMichael Smith has been selected as the USA South Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. The Clarkton, North Carolina freshman guard helped the Monarchs to a 1-1 record last week. In the two contests, Smith averaged 22.5 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. In a 76-75, overtime, loss to USA South rival Greensboro, Smith tallied a co-game high 22 points with four rebounds, two steals and one assist. In an 82-67 win over USA South foe Ferrum, Smith led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor and 7-of-11 shooting from the free throw line. Smith also dished out five assists, had a game-high three steals and grabbed two rebounds.

The men's basketball team will host the Averett Cougars on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
