McDade and Smith Honored as USA South Athletes of the Week
Methodist student-athletes receives weekly conference honors

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South has announced their athletes of the week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week.

Billy McDade has been chosen as the USA South Athlete of the Week. The senior forward from Largo, Florida led the Monarchs to a 3-0 record last week, all versus USA South competition. In the three contests, McDade averaged 25.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. In an 85-70 win over N.C. Wesleyan, McDade scored 14 points with eight rebounds and two assists. In a 95-85 win at Christopher Newport, McDade sank seven three-point shots en route to a game-high 42 points. He also added six rebounds and two assists in the victory. Finally, in a 77-72 win at Shenandoah, McDade scored a team-high 19 points, grabbed two rebounds and blocked two shots.

LeuMichael Smith has been selected as the USA South Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season. The Clarkton, North Carolina freshman guard helped the Monarchs to a 3-0 record last week, all versus USA South competition. In the three contests, Smith averaged 14.3 points per game, on 73% (19-of-26) shooting from the floor. He also contributed 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals per contest. In an 85-70 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Smith scored a game-high 19 points with six rebounds, six assists, two steals and the contest's only blocked shot. In a 95-85 win at Christopher Newport, Smith contributed ten points, four rebounds and two steals. Finally, in a 77-72 win at Shenandoah, Smith scored 14 points, dished out three assists, grabbed two rebounds and had two steals.

The men's basketball team will host the Greensboro Pride on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
