February 25, 2008 FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South has announced their athletes of the week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week. Lindsey Cosgray has been named the USA South Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. The Middletown, Maryland sophomore goalkeeper has led the Monarchs to a 1-1 record to begin the season. In a 16-5 loss to Division II St. Andrews, Cosgray made nine saves and had a team-high four ground balls. In a 19-3 victory over USA South foe Shenandoah, Cosgray stopped 12 shots and had two ground balls. Chrystal Bradley has been selected as the USA South Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. The senior midfielder from Fairfax, Virginia, playing in her first season of collegiate lacrosse, has helped the Monarchs to a 1-1 record to begin the season by scoring four goals and assisting on two others for six points. In a 16-5 loss to Division II St. Andrews, Bradley scored her first collegiate goal while adding three ground balls and one caused turnover. In a 19-3 victory over USA South foe Shenandoah, Bradley scored three times, dished out two assists and collected a game-high five ground balls. LeuMichael Smith has been named the USA South Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week. The Clarkton, North Carolina freshman guard helped the Monarchs to a 2-1 record last week, all versus league competition, and a share of the USA South Regular Season Championship. In the three contests, Smith averaged 15.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game. In an 74-67 loss at N.C. Wesleyan, Smith contributed 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, a team-high two steals and one block. In a 65-61 win over Shenandoah, Smith tallied a game and career-high 27 points with two assists and one rebound. Finally, in a 94-85 victory over Christopher Newport, Smith scored six points, grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists and had one steal as Methodist secured the top-seed for the upcoming conference tournament.
