Monarchs' Sharp Shooting Sinks Averett 75-68
Senior Billy McDade led the team with 18 points

DANVILLE, VA- Methodist shot better than 74 percent from the field in the first half on their way to a 46-35 halftime lead. The Monarchs hung on through the final 20 minutes to prevail 75-68. The Monarchs move to 14-8 overall this season and 6-3 in the USA South while Averett moves to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

Sophomore Tyler Sigman gave Methodist the 7-6 lead three minutes into the game after a steal from freshman LeuMichael Smith. The Monarchs went on a 16-4 run over the next four minutes to take a 13 point lead. The Cougars cut into the Methodist lead, but the Monarchs were able to extend their lead back to 11 before halftime.

Methodist maintained their lead throughout the second half despite Averett's attempts to take the lead. The Monarchs hit crucial free throws in the final minutes to earn the 75-68 win.

Senior Billy McDade led the team with 18 points while junior Travis McBryde scored 13 points. Junior Antwin Shuford and Smith each scored 10 points a piece. Shuford led the team with nine rebounds.

The Monarchs will travel to N.C. Wesleyan on Monday at 7:30 pm.
