Brandon Williams Leads Monarchs to 71-55 Victory Over Baruch
Strong first half carries Methodist through for the win

DAYTONA BEACH, FL-  The Monarchs came out strong against Baruch on Friday night to open the Daytona Mitsubishi Shootout hosted by Embry Riddle University.  Methodist held as much as a 17 point lead in the first half to translate into the Monarchs' second win of the season.  Methodist and Baruch both move to 2-1 on the season.

Senior Brandon Williams scored the first eight points of the game for the Monarchs on his way to scoring 22 on the night.  Baruch closed the gap to six in the second half with eight minutes remaining, but a layup by freshman Darrian Anderson cushioned the lead.  Methodist finished the half on an 8-2 run in the final five minutes to defeat Baruch 71-55.

The Monarchs outrebounded Baruch 45-35 and shot better than 60% from the field in the first half to finish on top.  Sophomore Antwin Shuford finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds while freshman Adrian Bascom led the Monarchs on the boards with 11.  Williams shot 9-for-12 from the field and had nine rebounds.

The Monarchs will face host Embry Riddle at 8 pm in the championship game of the Daytona Mitsubishi Shootout.
