Eugene Grant represents Methodist and the USA in collegiate all-star games in Barbados
2006 Methodist graduate selected among nations elite

FAYETTEVILLE, NC– Recent Methodist graduate and men's basketball player Eugene Grant represented Methodist and the USA last month in international competition in Barbados.

Grant was nominated by other college coaches for selection on the team sponsored by a non-profit organization called USA Athletes International.  The team consisted of successful collegiate student-athletes from all over the nation and was coached by Josh Bland from the University of Bridgeport.

The team played four games in Barbados in June, going 2-2 on the trip.  They defeated a Barbados Club team called the Tri-Bents twice and fell twice to the Barbados National Team.  Grant, who averaged 17.7 point per game on the trip, scored a high of 21 against the Barbados National Team.

"I think we played well," said Grant "but the best part of the trip for me was meeting the different players from all over the country."

Grant led the Monarchs to three conference championships and two NCAA appearances in his four years with the Monarchs.  He is a member of Methodist's 1,000 point club and ranks third all-time in Methodist history with 162 three pointers made.  Grant is Methodist's all-time leader in games played with 110.
