Monarchs Fall at Greensboro
Junior Craig Moore leads Methodist with 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  Down by as many as 14, the Monarchs made another strong push coming within three, but the rally fell short as Greensboro defeated Methodist 68-60.  Methodist stands at 8-11 overall and 3-4 in the USA South, while Greensboro improves to 14-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

Both teams missed the first ten shots of the game before Greensboro scored first with 16:36 remaining in the first half.  It took almost five minutes, but the Monarchs got on the board with a jumper by sophomore Antwin Shuford.  Greensboro held an eleven point lead with 5:32 left in the half, but the Monarchs came back to close the lead to four with less than three minutes on the clock.  The half ended much like the first with the teams shooting 0-for-7 in the final minute and a half.  Greensboro led 28-23 at halftime.

The Monarchs closed the lead to three points early in the second half before the Pride came back to go up by 13 with 14:17 remaining.  The Monarchs responded with a run of their own and moved within five.  Chad Alston hit a three-pointer for Greensboro with 1:54 remaining to give them a 64-53 lead.  Freshman Adrian Bascom was fouled and hit both free throws before senior Rob Lee sank a three-pointer to close the lead to six with thirty seconds to go.  The Monarchs were forced to foul and Adam Nicholson hit both free throws for the Pride.  Greensboro capitalized on a Monarch turnover to go up by ten.  Lee closed the game with a layup but the Monarchs fell short 60-68.

Junior Craig Moore led the Monarchs with 13 points and seven rebounds while sophomore AB Lehmann and Lee scored nine a piece.

The Monarchs will host the Ferrum Panthers on Saturday at 4 pm.
