Monarchs Seek Revenge Against the Pride
Freshman LeuMichael Smith scored 22 points to lead the team in scoring

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- It was a tough 76-75 overtime loss to swallow back in January at Greensboro, but the Monarchs are on a four-game winning streak now after defeating the Pride 78-62 Wednesday night. The Monarchs move to 13-7 overall this season and 5-2 in the USA South while Greensboro moves to 9-11 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Greensboro missed their first seven shots from the field along with a couple of free throws as they watched Methodist take a 14-0 lead through the first five and a half minutes. A layup with 7:17 to go in the half cut the lead to nine, but Methodist responded. They finished the half with a 40-23 lead after a dunk from freshman LeuMichael Smith.

Greensboro outscored Methodist in the second half, but could not close the gap to less than nine. The Pride's Michael McDuffie hit two free throws to move within nine at 6:36, but junior Travis McBryde came right back down the other end with a layup on the assist from sophomore Tyler Sigman. The Monarchs put their final stamp on the game with two dunks in the final minute from McBryde and junior Antwin Shuford.

Smith led the Monarchs with 22 points while Shuford scored 17 points. Senior Billy McDade added 11 points while senior Travis Winstead and McBryde each scored 10. McDade led the team with nine rebounds.

The Monarchs will travel to Ferrum on Saturday for a 4 pm tipoff.
