No. 7 Guilford Defeats Methodist 74-48
Junior Travis McBryde scored 10 points with seven rebounds

GREENSBORO, NC- The Methodist men's basketball team traveled to Guilford College Wednesday night to take on the Quakers, recently ranked number seven in the D3Hoops.com poll. The Quakers took an early lead while the Monarchs struggled with a 28 percent shooting percentage. Methodist moves to 5-2 this season while Guilford improves to 3-1 overall.

Guilford jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the game, but Methodist got on the board with a jumper from freshman LeuMichael Smith. Senior Billy McDade closed the lead to 12-9 on a 3-pointer with 15:15 remaining in the half, but the Quakers went on an 18-3 run to lead by 18 with a little more than eight minutes to go. Guilford led 42-26 at halftime.

The Monarchs' shot just wouldn't fall with Methodist shooting just 28 percent. Guilford stayed strong out rebounding Methodist 52-36 during the game. The Quakers' Ben Strong scored 21 points with 10 rebounds to lead Guilford.

Methodist had three players score in double figures with junior Travis McBryde, McDade and Smith each scoring 10 points. McBryde and junior Antwin Shuford each picked up seven rebounds.

The Monarchs will travel to Maryville December 15 for a 2 pm tipoff.
