Monarch Seniors Go Out on Top With 79-73 Victory
Senior Dragan Radmanovic leads Methodist with 17 points

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  After falling to NC Wesleyan 88-86 last month, the Monarchs were ready to come out strong.  Just one game behind the fourth place Bishops, Methodist led throughout the second half on their way to a 79-73 win.  Methodist and NC Wesleyan are all tied up in the conference both sitting at 10-12 overall and 5-5 in the USA South.

Both teams kept the game tight during the first half with six ties and thirteen lead changes.  Lenny Hall tied the game at 38 on a free throw with 41 seconds to go in the half, but junior Travis Winstead gave the Monarchs the three point lead going into the locker room.

Methodist built a ten point lead early in the second half behind the three-point shooting of sophomore AB Lehmann, but the Bishops slowly began to cut into the lead.  Jarvis Cobb hit a jumper midway through the half to cut the lead to two.  The Monarchs led by as many as nine with 4:03 to go before the Bishops hit a three-pointer, a layup, and a jumper on three consecutive possessions while the Monarchs went scoreless.  With 2:16 to go, the Monarchs lead was back down to two.  Both teams missed opportunities over the next minute and a half before NC Wesleyan was forced to foul, sending senior Dragan Radmanovic to the line.  He went 4-for-4 from the free throw line to end the game and give the Monarchs the 79-73 win.

Radmanovic led Methodist with 17 points while freshman Adrian Bascom finished with 16 and Lehmann added 13 points.  Sophomore Antwin Shuford led the team in rebounding with eleven.

The Monarchs will finish the regular season on the road at Christopher Newport on Friday at 7:30 pm and at Shenandoah on Saturday at 4 pm.
