Coach Ryerson Leads
Team USA to Championship
Team wins first place in the Flanders
Basketball Trophy tournament
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- Assistant basketball
coach and new cross country head coach Tim
Ryerson spent ten days in August coaching high
school seniors from all across the United States
in the Flanders Basketball Trophy in Belgium.
Ryerson nominated the athletes who were then
selected by USA Athletes International.
Team USA finished the trip going undefeated,
winning three exhibition games before securing
the championship in four games.
"Representing the
United States in an international competition in
Belgium was a great experience for me. I
was blessed with a great group of talented and
hardworking student-athletes. I look
forward to an opportunity to coach some of them
again in the future," Ryerson said.
While the team
was in Belgium they were also able to spend some
time sightseeing. They visited World War
II concentration camp Breendonk, Antwerp Diamond
Factory, Golden Carous Belgium Brewery, Belgium
Royal Palace, City Tours of Mechelen, Brussels,
Antwerp, and Bruge.
