Methodist Defeats Shenandoah 89-78 Behind Ten Three-Pointers
Sophomore Antwin Shuford scores nine points with nine rebounds and six steals

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Monarchs moved into a tie for second in the USA South with their second straight win on Sunday.  Senior Rob Lee had another big scoring game with 22 points to lead the Monarchs.  Methodist improves 8-10 overall and 3-3 in the USA South, while Shenandoah stands at 7-11 this season and 1-5 in the conference.

Methodist used the first half to build their lead gradually behind strong rebounding.  The team only shot 16-for-38 from the field during the first twenty minutes, but outrebounded the Hornets 21-16.  The Hornets closed the lead to two points with a free throw by Lenzie Adams, but with both teams struggling to score, Monarch sophomore AB Lehmann drained a three-pointer with 1:10 remaining.  Senior Brandon Williams pulled in an offensive rebound and laid in the putback to give Methodist the 36-29 lead at halftime.

Methodist led by as many as twelve in the second half.  The Hornets closed the lead to five with 6:56 to go, but senior Dragan Radmanovic came down the other end to hit his third three-pointer of the day to give the Monarchs an eight point lead.   The Monarchs had a 75-63 lead with less than five minutes on the clock, but when the Hornets came within eight, Williams hit a three-pointer of his own to silence any comeback.  Methodist finished the final minute and a half shooting 11-for-13 from the free throw line to win the game 89-78.

Radmanovic finished with 17 points and seven rebounds to go along with sophomore Antwin Shuford's nine points and nine rebounds.  Jeremiah Lawrence led the Hornets with 31 points.

The Monarchs will travel to Greensboro to face the Pride on Wednesday at 7:30.
