January 24, 2007 More than 1,500 coaches and student-athletes attended a conference over the past two years. Methodist University representatives attended the conference in Dallas. According to the NCAA website, "the conferences are designed to encourage student-athletes to become confident change agents on their campuses and in their communities and to provide a forum for student-athletes, coaches, administrators and faculty to build partnerships, develop leadership skills, and discuss Division III issues that impact student-athletes." McEvoy was able to work closely with other coaches and administrators in addition to the student-athletes. "As a long-time coach, and now administrator, I was honored to be a part of the NCAA leadership program," said McEvoy. "I was very impressed with the student-athletes' commitment to academic excellence and leadership in their community in an effort to bring about positive change on their campuses."
