First, he will begin a two-year term as the President of the USA South Athletic Conference, and second, serve as a facilitator for the 2005-06 NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Regional Leadership Conferences. This is the third duty assigned to McEvoy outside of his position as Athletic Director at Methodist. He also serves on the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball National Tournament Committee. After serving the previous two years as the Vice President of the USA South, McEvoy assumes his new title as President beginning this fall. He succeeds North Carolina Wesleyan Athletic Director John Thompson in that capacity. As a facilitator for the Regional Leadership Conferences for NCAA Division III, McEvoy will help direct the two conferences during the upcoming academic year. The first is from Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Dallas, followed by the second on Jan. 20-22 in Jersey City, N.J. These regional conferences are designed to encourage student athletes to become change agents on their campus and in their community. McEvoy is in his ninth year at the helm of the athletic department at Methodist. He was previously the men’s basketball coach at Methodist from 1992-1999. |
