October 3, 2007 FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South has announced their athletes of the week. The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during the week. Chris Fletcher has been named the USA South Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The senior from New Castle, New Hampshire totaled a 5-1 singles record and a 2-1 doubles mark at the ITA Southeast Regionals last week. As the sixth-seeded singles player in the top flight, Fletcher reached the finals of the tournament before falling in a third-set tiebreaker. Fletcher won five matches to reach the finals, including a 6-0, 6-1 quarterfinal victory over the top-seeded player in the draw. In doubles action, Fletcher teamed with his brother, Andrew, to win two matches, falling in the quarterfinals to the top-seeded duo from Christopher Newport. Nick Bova has been named the USA South Men's Golfer of the Week. The senior from Bloomington, Illinois shot a nine-under par 135 to win the Greensboro Invitational. Bova, who won his third collegiate tournament, led the Monarchs to a first place finish in the two-day tournament. Bova shot a first round 69 then followed with a career-low 66 in round two.
