Horton ties for fourth to lead Methodist

CAMP LEJUNE, NC – A blistering Saturday had the Methodist Monarchs men's golf team in contention for a victory on Sunday in the Marine Corps Tournament held at the Gold and Scarlet Courses in Camp Lejune, NC.

The Monarchs fell short, shooting a 306 in the final round, 33 shots behind the 273 they shot on Saturday.  The Monarchs final score of 878 (299, 273, 306) was good enough for 6th place out of 32 teams.  Johnson and Wales (FL) won the tournament with a score of 865.  Methodist finished with the second best score amongst USA South conference participants, seven shots behind Greensboro College.

The Monarchs are in action next weekend at the Emory Invitational at the Smoke Rise Golf and Country Club in Stone Mountain, GA.
