Methodist finishes sixth at Gordin Collegiate

SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. –
The Methodist Monarchs finished sixth on Monday at the Gordin Collegiate Classic at the Deer Track Links. Methodist, ranked No. 1 in the most recent Division III Top 25 poll, shot a 310 on Monday to finish with a two-round total of 610.

Methodist finished two strokes behind St. John’s (Minn.), eight strokes behind Oglethorpe and nine strokes behind Emory. Guilford won the 12-team tournament by one stroke over Huntingdon.

Nick Bova had the top individual finish for a Monarch, shooting a 146 (73-73) to finish fifth overall, three strokes off the lead of individual champion Jacob Collinsworth from Huntingdon. Other Methodist scores included Brant Dixon with a 153 (74-79), Cory Schneider with a 155 (78-77), Brian Gussis with a 157 (76-81) and John Duckworth with a 159 (77-82).

Methodist plays its final tournament of the 2005 fall season on Monday and Tuesday in the Jack Shadwick Invitational in Seneca, S.C.
