![]() Monarchs’ Horton paces United States to victory in USA vs. Japan Matches STANFORD, Calif. – Former Methodist men’s golfer Adam Horton finished off his collegiate career in style on Friday, leading the United States to a thrilling 31-29 victory over Japan in the 30th annual Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championships at the Stanford Golf Courses. Horton, a three-time All-American at Methodist, won two matches and recorded a draw in the three-round event to win the Men’s Most Valuable Player for the tournament. The USA has now won 10 straight in the head-to-head event and leads the overall series 22-8. In Friday’s final round, Horton defeated Japan’s Jyunpei Takayama 67-70 in the third match of the round. Horton recorded five birdies in his 3-under-par performance. He birdied the par-5 first hole, the par-4 fifth, the par-5 seventh, the par-5 16th and finished the round with a birdie on the par-4 18th hole. Horton is the sixth player in the rich history of men’s golf at Methodist to participate in this prestigious event. |
