Monarchs finish first round in fourth place at Jekyll Island
Horton shoots a 69 to lead Methodist

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – With the first of three rounds completed in the Jekyll Island Invitational, the Monarchs find themselves only five strokes off the lead.

Otterbein (282) leads the twenty-four team field and is followed by Oglethorpe (285), Huntingdon (286), Methodist (287), LaGrange (291), Greensboro (298), and Christopher Newport (299).

Adam Horton had the low Monarch score on day one shooting a 69 on the par 72 Oleander Golf Course.  He trails Nathaniel James (67) from Washington and Jefferson and Grady Ruckman (68) from Bridgewater.

Other Monarch scores include Cory Schneider (70), Nick Bova (73), Justin Tulk (75), and Brant Dixon (76).
