Horton and Bova named PING All-Americans; Schneider a
second team selection and a Cleveland All-American Scholar
LINCOLN, NE – The Golf Coaches Association of America today announced the 2005-06 student-athlete and
coaches awards for Division III Men's Collegiate Golf.
Winners were recognized at the GCAA Division III Awards
Banquet held in Lincoln, NE.

Monarchs finish in third place at the National Championship
Nick Bova and Adam Horton finish tied for fifth overall
LINCOLN, NE- The Monarch Men's Golf team was
consistent, steady, and dominant for most of the 2006
season. They took that strategy all the way to
Lincoln, Nebraska in search of their first national title
since 1999. The Monarchs fell just short, finishing
third with a score of 1210.

Monarchs trail leader Nebraska Wesleyan by 15; Nick Bova
shoots a 72 to climb to seventh overall
LINCOLN, NE- The Monarch Men's Golf team continued
their consistent and steady play Wednesday in the third
round of the national
championship. They shot a 302, following Tuesday's 300
and Monday's 303. The three day total of 905 keeps
Methodist in fifth place, trailing by fifteen strokes going
into Thursday's final round.

LINCOLN, NE- The Monarch Men's Golf team shot a
consistent and steady 300 on day two of the national
championship. Despite improving from Monday's 303,
Methodist fell three spots into fifth. They trail
leader Guilford College by eight strokes.

golfers dominate USA South awards
Horton named player of the year; Conley coach of the year
The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its
All-Conference awards for golf. A total of 14
student-athletes have been named to the USA South
All-Conference teams for golf. Adam Horton of Methodist
College was chosen Player of the Year and Steve Conley from
Methodist is the Coach of the Year. Nick Bova and Cory
Schneider were also named to the first team. Brant
Dixon made the second team. release

Emory Invitational
Nick Bova records his first collegiate win
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA – The Methodist men's golf team ended
the regular season on a great note with a win at the Emory Invitational at
Smoke Rise Golf and Country Club (Par 72- 6,852 yds) in Stone Mountain, GA.
Methodist shot a 590 to win their fourth tournament of the
2005-06 season.

Monarchs storm back to win Jekyll Island
Invite
Horton wins fifth individual title
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – After trailing by five strokes after
the first round of competition at the Jekyll Island Invite,
the Monarchs men's golf team came back to take home the
tournament championship. Adam Horton also took home
his fifth individual title shooting a 5 under par 211.
Twenty four teams competed in the tournament at the
Oleander, a par 72, 6521 yard course.

place at Jekyll Island
Horton shoots a 69 to lead Methodist
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – With the first of three rounds
completed in the Jekyll Island Invitational, the Monarchs
find themselves only five strokes off the lead.
Otterbein (282) leads the twenty-four team field and is
followed by Oglethorpe (285), Huntingdon (286), Methodist
(287), LaGrange (291), Greensboro (298), and Christopher
Newport (299). Adam Horton had the low Monarch score
on day one shooting a 69 on the par 72 Oleander Golf Course.

Methodist scores at 151
CALLAWAY GARDENS, Ga. – After finishing the first round
in second place on Monday, the Methodist Monarch men’s golf
team slipped to a final finish of third on Tuesday at the
Callaway Collegiate at Callaway Gardens. Methodist shot a
second round score of 306 to finish third with a 607. The
Monarchs, the second-ranked team in Division III, finished
11 strokes behind Huntingdon and 13 strokes behind winner
Oglethorpe. Individually, Adam Horton (78-73) and Cory
Schneider (72-79) both shot 151 for the top scores for
Methodist.

Methodist trails
Oglethorpe by eight strokes; Schneider, Bova tied for second
CALLAWAY GARDENS, Ga. –
Fresh off winning their opening tournament of the 2006
season, the Methodist Monarch men’s golf team is currently
second overall following the first round of the Callaway
Collegiate on Monday. The Monarchs, ranked second nationally
in Division III, shot an opening round 301 to trail leader
Oglethorpe by eight strokes. Individually, Methodist’s Cory
Schneider and Nick Bova are both tied for second after
shooting even-par 72 in the first round.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. –
The Methodist Monarch men’s golf team opened its 2006 season
in fine fashion on Tuesday, winning its opening tournament
of the spring. The Monarchs overcame a three stroke deficit
on Monday to win the Pine Needles Invitational by one stroke
at the Pine Needles Lodge. Methodist shot a 299 on Tuesday
to finish with a two-round total of 599 to win the 18-team
tournament field. Individually for the Monarchs, Adam Horton
(75-73) and Cory Schneider (73-75) finished tied for fourth
overall with a 148. release

The Methodist Monarch men’s golf team opened its 2006 season
on Monday with a strong showing in the first round of the
Pine Needles Invitational at Pine Needles Lodge. After the
first round, Methodist is in a solid second place with a 300
on the Par-71, 7,000-yard course. The Monarchs, ranked
second nationally in Division III, trail host Pfeiffer by
three strokes. Individually, Cory Schneider had the top
Methodist score with a two-over-par 73.

South preseason men’s golf poll
Monarchs open 2006
season at the Pine Needles Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
The USA South Athletic Conference released its 2006
preseason poll for men’s golf on Wednesday, and the
Methodist Monarchs were selected as the preseason favorite
in the seven-team race. Methodist, the second-ranked team in
the nation in Division III, received 36 points and six
first-place votes, out-distancing second place Greensboro
with 31 points and one first-place vote. Methodist kicks off
the 2006 season at the Pine Needles Invitational in Southern
Pines, N.C., on Feb. 27-28.

place finish at Jack Shadwick Invitational
SENECA, S.C. – The
Methodist Monarch men’s golf team closed out the 2005 fall
season on Tuesday with a second place finish at the Jack
Shadwick Invitational at the Cross Creek Plantation.
Methodist shot a 302 in some more harsh conditions on
Tuesday and finished with a 606 for the two-round
tournament. Methodist finished six strokes behind team

three strokes and first round leader Oglethorpe by four

The Methodist Monarchs finished sixth on Monday at the
Gordin Collegiate Classic at the Deer Track Links.
Methodist, ranked No. 1 in the most recent Division III Top
25 poll, shot a 310 on Monday to finish with a two-round
total of 610. Methodist finished two strokes behind St.
John’s (Minn.), eight strokes behind Oglethorpe and nine
strokes behind Emory. Guilford won the 12-team tournament by
one stroke over Huntingdon.

Top 25 poll, the Methodist Monarch men’s golf team currently
stands fourth at the Gordin Classic on Sunday following the
first round. The Monarchs shot a 300 in the opening round at
the Deer Track North Course. Methodist trails both
Huntingdon and Emory by two strokes. Guilford is the leader
following the first round with a 291.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –
A third straight championship in the Greensboro Invitational
was within reach on Tuesday for the Methodist Monarch men’s
golf team. However, the Monarchs came two strokes short at
the end of the final round. Methodist shot a team-low 285
for Tuesday’s final round for a two-round total of 587. But
Huntingdon was second at 586 and Guilford won the tournament

of Greensboro Invitational
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The
Methodist Monarch men’s golf team is currently fourth
following the first round of the Greensboro Invitational on
Monday at Meadowlands Golf Course. The Monarchs, ranked
second in the most recent Division III Top 25 poll, fired a
302 in Monday’s round, which was mired by harsh weather
conditions and delayed for two hours. The Monarchs are
seeking their third straight Greensboro Invitational

Tom O’Briant Memorial
GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Medalist Cory Schneider came to the forefront on Tuesday as
he helped lead the Methodist Monarch men’s golf team to a
record-tying third straight team title in the 18th annual
Tom O’Briant Memorial Tournament at the Cardinal Golf and
Country Club. Schneider shot a 1-under par 69 in Tuesday’s
final round to finish an even-par 140. He outdistanced
Oglethorpe’s Joe Green and Huntingdon’s Jacob Collinsworth
by two strokes and helped the Monarchs to a two-round score

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Playing its first tournament of the 2005 fall season, the
Methodist Monarch men’s golf team took the lead after the
first round of the Tom O’Briant Memorial on Monday at
Cardinal Golf and Country Club. Aiming for an unprecedented
third straight Tom O’Briant championship, the Monarchs shot
a 288 for the opening round. Methodist, ranked second in the
first Division III National Top 25 released this week, holds
a two-stroke lead over Huntingdon and a three-stroke lead

Monarchs’ Horton paces United States to
victory in USA vs. Japan Matches
STANFORD, Calif. – Former Methodist men’s golfer
Adam Horton finished off his collegiate career in style on
Friday, leading the United States to a thrilling 31-29
victory over Japan in the 30th annual Fuji Xerox USA vs.
Japan Collegiate Golf Championships at the Stanford Golf
Courses. Horton, a three-time All-American at Methodist, won
two matches and recorded a draw in the three-round event to
win the Men’s Most Valuable Player for the tournament.

Monarchs’ Horton gains victory, tie in
first two rounds of USA vs. Japan matches
PALO ALTO, Calif. – Former Methodist men’s golfer
Adam Horton enjoyed successful rounds in the 2005 USA vs.
Japan Collegiate Golf Championships at the Stanford Golf
Course. The three-time Monarch All-American recorded a
victory in Wednesday’s doubles competition, and a draw in
Thursday’s singles play as the United States took a 19-17
lead in the competition.

Methodist’s Horton selected for
USA vs. Japan Matches
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Recently-graduated
Methodist men’s golf standout Adam Horton will have one
final event to close out his collegiate career. Horton was
selected recently to represent the United States in the
upcoming 2005 Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf
Championships. The event will be held on July 13-15 at the
Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif.
