Men's Golf Receives All-Region Awards
GCAA names four Monarchs to Division III Ping All-Region Team
FISHERS, IN – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released their All-Region and All-American teams last week in conjunction with the Division III National Championship.  Four men's golfers from Methodist were named to the All-Region team representing the South.  release

Monarchs Miss Cut in a Playoff to Salem State
Trey Howell finishes 14 over to lead the team
CARMEL, IN – The Monarchs came up short on Wednesday in the second round of the National Championship Tournament.  The team cut their score by eight strokes for a two day total of 642 (325-317), but missed the cut by one shot in a playoff to Salem State.  St. John's (MN) leads the field with a 600 (300-300).  release

Monarchs Open National Championship at Prairie View
Matt Bova leads the team with a 77 in the first round
FISHERS, IN – Methodist University teed off the first round of the NCAA Division III National Championship on Tuesday.  The tournament takes place on two courses with the Monarchs beginning on the Prairie View Course.  After day one, the Monarchs shot a 325 to sit in 28th place.  release

Fifteen Monarchs Earn All-Tournament Honors
Methodist won four of the six spring championships with four student-athletes named the MVP
BURLINGTON, NC- 
The USA South completed the tournament championships on Sunday, April 15.  The Monarchs won more trophies than any other school with four, while Christopher Newport won one and Ferrum won the other.  release

Monarchs sweep Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year Honors
FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for golf.  A total of 15 student-athletes have been named to the USA South All-Conference teams for golf. Methodist University sweeps the individual awards as Nick Bova is chosen as the Golfer of the Year, Josh Speight is the Rookie Golfer of the Year and Steve Conley is the Coach of the Year.  release

Sophomore Matt Bova cut six strokes to tie for sixth with a 148
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA- The Methodist men's golf team jumped ahead to win the Emory Invitational on Monday with a 588.  The Monarchs finished four strokes ahead second place Guilford College.  release

Sophomore Jake Pleczkowski shot a 70 to tie for second one stroke off the leader
STONE MOUNTAIN, GA- The Methodist men's golf team was one of fourteen teams spending their Easter Sunday competing in the Emory Invitational at the Smoke Rise Golf & Country Club.  After the first round, the Monarchs are in fourth place with a 295 just two strokes behind the leaders Guilford and Huntingdon.  release

JACKSONVILLE, NC- The Monarchs were in seventh place going into day three at the Camp LeJeune Intercollegiate, but jumped ahead in the final round to take second, just one stroke behind the winner Oglethorpe University.  Methodist was one of sixteen teams competing on the Gold course.  release

JEKYLL ISLAND, GA- The Methodist men's golf team won their second tournament of the spring placing first at the Jekyll Island Invitational amongst the field of 24 teams.  The Monarchs finished eight strokes ahead of second place Oglethorpe University.  release

NEW YORK, NY- Golf World, Nike Golf, and the National Golf Coaches' Association have combined resources to release the second Division III men's golf poll of the year. The Monarchs have been chosen as the top team in the country.  release

Freshman Josh Speight led the Monarchs with a score of 149
PINE MOUNTAIN, GA- The Methodist men's golf team finished in third place amongst 17 teams at the Callaway Invitational on Tuesday.  Freshman Josh Speight played well on day two to lead the Monarchs with a score of 149 (78-71).  release

Senior Nick Bova leads the Monarchs in a tie for second place
SOUTHERN PINES, NC- The Methodist men's golf team finished with a score of 588 tying Guilford College.  The tournament came down to each team's fifth golfer, where the Monarchs defeated Guilford for the win.  release

Golf, lacrosse, softball, and tennis released today
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The USA South Conference office released the preseason polls today for the remaining spring sports.  Baseball was released earlier this month.  The polls are based on votes from each conference member's head coach without voting for themselves.  release

GCAA Honors Conley With Induction Into Hall of Fame

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL-  The Golf Coaches Association of America inducted Methodist men's golf coach, Steve Conley as well as Fresno State coach Mike Watley into the Hall of Fame on Monday.  President of Methodist University, Dr. Elton Hendricks attended the reception in appreciation of Conley's achievement.  release

Steve Conley Named 2006 GCAA Hall of Fame Inductee
In his 21st season, Conley has recorded nine national and 18 conference championships
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Tuesday they will be inducting Methodist men's golf coach, Steve Conley as well as Fresno State coach Mike Watley into the Hall of Fame.  The 2006 class will be honored at the GCAA Hall of Fame Reception and Awards Banquet on Monday, Jan. 22 at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral, Fla.  release

Men's Golf Wins Oglethorpe Invitational
Sophomore Matt Bova finished four strokes off the individual winner to lead the Monarchs
GAINESVILLE, GA-  The men's golf team traveled to their final fall tournament held at the Royal Lakes Country Club to compete Monday and Tuesday.  After the completion of the two rounds, the Monarchs finished at the top of the 12-team field by eight strokes with a score of 585.  release

Men's Golf Places Fourth at Gordin Classic
Nick Bova shot a 146 to lead the Monarchs
MYRTLE BEACH, SC-  The men's golf team traveled to the Gordin Classic at the Grande Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC placing fourth out of the twelve teams competing.  The Monarchs were tied for first after round one, but Emory University held on for the win with a score of 581.  The Monarchs came in behind Rhodes and Guilford with a score of 590.  release

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- 
The USA South has announced their golfers of the week Wednesday afternoon.  The conference gives an award for Golfer of the Week and Rookie of the Week when the majority of the conference members are active in tournaments that week.  release

Bova Brothers Lead Monarchs to First Place at Tom O'Briant Memorial
Methodist College shot a 288-301 in the tournament to lead the nationally ranked competition
GREENSBORO, NC-  The men's golf team finished strong in the second day of the Tom O'Briant Memorial to win the tournament with a 288-301 score.  Oglethorpe made a strong second day push with a 295 to come within three strokes, but the Monarchs' 4-under-par day one helped them hold onto the lead.  Nick and Matt Bova, brothers from Bloomington, Illinois, both shot a 144 to tie for the individual win.  release

Golf Coaches Association of America released first poll for Fall 2006
FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The Methodist College men's golf team has been ranked first in the Golf Coaches Association/Bridgestone Division III poll.  The Monarchs received six of eleven first place votes to earn the top spot.  release

Men's Golf Finishes Second at Greensboro Invitational
Huntingdon College holds off strong second day push from Monarchs
GREENSBORO, NC-  After finishing day one of the Greensboro Invitational in third place, the Monarchs made a strong push in day two, but Huntingdon College held on for the win shooting a two-day 575 (281-294).  The Monarchs shot 576 (287-289) for second place.  Senior Nick Bova led the Monarchs after he shot 142 (71-71) on the par 72 course.  release
