Bova Brothers Lead
Monarchs to First Place at Tom O'Briant Memorial
Methodist College shot a 288-301 in the
tournament to lead the nationally ranked
competition
GREENSBORO, NC- The men's golf team
finished strong in the second day of the Tom
O'Briant Memorial to win the tournament with a
288-301 score. Oglethorpe made a strong
second day push with a 295 to come within three
strokes, but the Monarchs' 4-under-par day one
helped them hold onto the lead. Nick and
Matt Bova, brothers from Bloomington, Illinois,
both shot a 144 to tie for the individual win.
Junior John Duckworth shot a 148 (72-76) to
finish in a tie for 12th. Sophomore Trey
Howell shot a 153 (76-77) to tie for 31st.
Junior Corey Johnson rounded out the Monarchs
with a 155 (77-78)in a tie for 40th.
The Tom O'Briant
included seven of the top 25 teams in Division
III based on the recent poll conducted by the
Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The men's golf
team will travel to the Gordin Classic in Myrtle
Beach, SC October 15-16.
