Men's Golf Wins USA South Championship
Day two cancelled giving the Monarchs the win

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Methodist University shot a collective 294 Saturday afternoon to lead the USA South Conference golf tournament by 10 strokes at Stoney Creek Golf Course.

The Monarchs had all four of their scoring golfers card rounds of 76 or better, led by No. 5 Trey Howell’s two-under-par 70 at the 7130-yard, par 72 layout.

Greensboro rode the strength of an even par 72 from Josh Cumming to come in at 304. They have a two-shot lead over third place Christopher Newport. Cumming is third overall.

Averett, at 320, stands fourth while Shenandoah is fifth at 326. The Hornets No. 2, Joe Orsino, is second to Howell with a one-under-par 71.

Ferrum (350) and NC Wesleyan (369) round out the seven-team tournament.

The second round was cancelled giving Howell the individual win while the Monarchs earn the tournament championship.
