Monarchs place seven on All-USA South for men’s soccer

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. –
The USA South Athletic Conference released its 2005 All-Conference team for men’s soccer on Wednesday, and the Methodist Monarchs placed seven representatives on the squad. Midfielder Adam Sippy and goalkeeper Jeremy Belnap were both second team selections, while forward Andy White, midfielders Dustin Breckenridge and Andrew Neff and defenders Gregg Cohen and Jimmy Izaguirre were honorable mention selections.

This marks the third time on the All-USA South team for Neff, while Sippy is on the squad for the second straight season. Belnap, White, Breckenridge, Cohen and Izaguirre were each selected for the first time.

Sippy, a senior from Fayetteville, N.C., scored three goals and one assist this season for seven points. His best outing was a two-goal performance in the regular season against Ferrum. Belnap continued what has become a tradition of Methodist goalkeepers being selected All-Conference. His predecessor, Justin Agema, was a three-time All-Conference selection, while head coach Justin Terranova was a four-time All-Conference selection.

A sophomore from Litchfield, N.H., Belnap had a 1.28 goals-against average and recorded 43 saves with four shutouts.

White, a sophomore from Sayville, N.Y., was Methodist’s leading scorer this season with six goals and two assists for 14 points. He recorded a hat-trick this season against Chowan. Breckenridge, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, scored two goals, while Neff, a senior from Fayetteville, N.C., had one goal and five assists for seven points.

Defensively, Cohen and Izaguirre anchored the Methodist defense. Cohen, a senior from Jackson, N.J., had one goal and two assists for four points, while Izaguirre, a junior from Morganton, N.C., scored three goals with one assist for seven points.
