Seven Monarchs Selected USA South All-Conference
Fourth seeded Monarchs dominate honorable mention list

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-
The USA South has released their All-Conference teams for the 2006 season.  The awards are based on their regular season play and voted on by the conference coaches.  The Monarchs finished the regular season seeded fourth and named seven players as All-Conference honorable mentions.

Sophomore Evan Monteiro (Jupiter, FL), freshman Ime Umoh
(Baltimore, MD) and junior Andy White (Sayville, NY) were all selected as honorable mention forwards for their attacking abilities up top.  Umoh is tied for the team scoring lead with seven goals while Monteiro and White both have 5 goals a piece.  The three players account for more than a third of the team's goal production this season.

Originally from Houston, TX, sophomore Brandon Cunningham has been a spark in the midfield this season scoring his first goal Tuesday, while registering six assists this season.  Three of the Monarch defenders were also chosen as honorable mentions including Jimmy Izaguirre from Morganton, NC, CJ Komons from Frederick, MD, and Desmond Keane from St. Petersburg, FL.  The three players helped to create a strong back line that held opponents to 21 goals, less than half of the Monarchs' own 45 goals.

The men's soccer team will travel to Christopher Newport for the USA South Conference semifinals where they will face Christopher Newport Friday at 7:30 pm.  The winner will play either Greensboro or NC Wesleyan Saturday at 7 pm.
