FAYETTEVILLE,
N.C. –
The
offensive
struggles
felt by
the
Methodist

soccer
team
were
extinguished
on
Thursday
as the
Monarchs
routed
visiting
Chowan
11-0 at
Monarch
Soccerplex.
After
starting
the
season
0-5-1,

have now
won 10
straight
head-to-head
against
former

Conference
rival
Chowan
(1-9).
In
addition,
it was
the
second-most
goals
scored
ever in
a game
by a
Monarch
team,
and the
Monarchs
came
within
one goal
of
matching
the
school

for
goals in
a game.
That was
a 12-0
rout
over
Barton
in 1988
bested
the
feat.
Many
players
contributed
offensively
for
Methodist.
Andy
White
spearheaded
the
attack
with a

scoring
all
three
goals in
the
first
half as
Methodist
jumped
out to a
7-0
lead.
White,
however,
wasn’t
alone.
Freshmen

Gregory
and Evan
Monteiro
both
scored
two
goals,
while
Brandon
Cunningham,
Jimmy
Izaguirre,
Jamie
Gunderson
and

All
three
freshmen,
Cunningham,

college

respectively.
