Men's Soccer Falls to Christopher Newport 5-0
Monarchs finish 14-5-1 in the 2006 season

NEWPORT NEWS, VA-  The Methodist men's soccer team traveled to Christopher Newport University for the semifinals of the USA South Conference Tournament on Friday night.  The Monarchs struggled to create offense and lost 5-0. The Monarchs conclude the 2006 season 14-5-1 overall.  Christopher Newport will advance to the championship match against Greensboro College.

The Captains started things quickly with a goal from Michael Caro just 16 seconds into play.  The Monarchs couldn't recover and Christopher Newport made it 2-0 10 minutes later on a long shot from Derek Shaw.  They struck early in the second half with a penalty kick by Daniel Fogarty
before Bryan Davis and Andrew Fogarty finished the scoring to win 5-0.

Monarch goalkeeper Jeremy Belnap and Captains goalkeeper Matt Tengs each made 2 saves in the game.
