Lynchburg
past
Methodist

Looking
for its
third
straight
victory
on
Saturday,
the
Methodist
Monarch
men’s
soccer
team
took one
the chin
as
Lynchburg
scored a
late
goal to
pull out
a 2-1
victory
at
Monarch
Soccerplex.
The
defeat
drops
Methodist
to 2-6-1
overall
on the
2005
season.
Methodist
trailed
1-0 for
most of
the game
until
the 85th
minute.
That’s
when the
Monarchs’
Sean
Gregory
tied the
game
with a
goal in
the
penalty
box off
a cross
pass
from
Andrew
Neff.
However,
Lynchburg
took the
lead a
minute
later
when
Drew
Jamison
scored
what
proved
to be
the
game-winning
goal on
a direct
kick.
The
Hornets
took a
1-0 lead
early in
the 13th
minute
on a
breakaway
goal by
Casey
Zambor.
Methodist
goalkeeper
Jeremy
Belnap
recorded
four
saves,
while
his
Lynchburg
counterpart
Corey
Zimmerman
recorded
seven
saves.
