Lynchburg Upends Methodist 2-0
Hornets out shot Monarchs 18-5

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  Methodist stepped out of conference play on Tuesday to face Lynchburg College, ranked 10th in the South region. The Hornets slipped one in early and went on to win 2-0. Methodist moves to 7-6 on the year while Lynchburg improves to 8-4-1 overall.

The Hornets' Modou Jobarteh split the Methodist defense to find Maurwyn Bowen alone with Methodist goalkeeper Sean Brennan. Bowen finished the run with Lynchburg's first goal in the sixth minute of play. With Methodist down 1-0 at halftime, the team came out fighting in the second half creating more offensive opportunities. With less than six minutes remaining, Lynchburg was in Methodist territory and Michael Abbonizio scored the Hornets' second goal on the assist from Stephen Legg.

Lynchburg out shot Methodist 18-5 with Brennan making 12 saves for the Monarchs.

The Monarchs will play at Shenandoah Friday at 3 pm.
