The
Methodist
Monarch
men’s
soccer
team
suffered
its
first
defeat
of the
2005
season
on
Sunday,
dropping
1-0
decision
against
Penn
State-Altoona
at the
North
Carolina
Wesleyan
Invitational.
The
defeat
puts the
Monarchs
a 0-1-1
on the
season.
Methodist
had 11
shots at
the net,
but
couldn’t
get it
past
Penn
State-Altoona
goalkeeper
Tim
Wassell.
He
finished
with
four
saves.
Penn
State-Altoona
scored
the
game’s
only
goal in
the 54th
minute
when
Evan
Spence
scored
off an
assist
by both
Andrew
Zechman
and
Bryan
Pierzga.
Methodist
plays
its home
opener
this
weekend
in the
Methodist/Adidas
Classic
at
Monarch
Soccerplex.
The
Monarchs
play
host to
Eastern
Mennonite
on
Saturday,
followed
by Emory
on
Sunday.
