Seniors Bid Farewell With 1-0 Win Versus Shenandoah
Freshman Ime Umoh scores the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The four Monarch seniors Jeremy Belnap, Tyler Bucheister, Jimmy Izaguirre, and Chris MacDonald were honored for their careers at Methodist as they played their final regular season home game at the Monarch Soccerplex Saturday.  The Monarchs win over Shenandoah improved their record to 12-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the USA South while Shenandoah falls to 0-9-2 and 0-3-1 in the conference.

The two teams were both creating scoring chances throughout the first half as both teams had 7 shots but the Monarchs were more on target with 6 of them on the face of the goal.  Less than seven minutes into the second half, freshman Ime Umoh scored the eventual game-winner on a dribble drive to slot it past the Shenandoah goalkeeper.  The Monarchs maintained possession only allowing two Hornet's shots on goal the entire second half.

Methodist goalkeeper Jeremy Belnap finished with 4 saves.  The Monarchs will travel to Randolph-Macon on Thursday to play at 4 pm.
