Monarchs Come From Behind to Win
Freshman Ime Umoh leads team with three goals

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-  The final game of the Methodist Innkeeper started quickly when Southwestern sophomore David Lozano beat the Monarch defense to go up 1-0 in the 10th minute of the game.  Methodist gained their bearings and put together a solid 3-2 win over the Southwestern Pirates behind a hat trick from freshman Ime Umoh.

Two minutes after Lozano's goal, Umoh capitalized on a misplay by the Southwestern defense to dribble past the keeper and tie the game.  The teams played the rest of the half with no one able to move ahead.  Southwestern held a significant shot advantage with 9 to Methodist's 1 in the first half.

The teams kicked off the second half and in the 55th minute Southwestern midfielder John Martinez received a pass from Darryn Lewis to put the ball away.  With the Monarchs down 2-1, freshman Ime Umoh came through again dribbling through the Pirates' defense to tie the game again.

The clock was ticking, with the score still tied at 2.  With less than four minutes remaining, Methodist sophomore Evan Monteiro began building the offensive push, passing to freshman Bret Brennan who moved the ball over to Umoh who hit it one time for the game-winning goal.

Methodist goalkeeper Jeremy Belnap finished with 3 saves.  The Monarchs improve to 3-1 and will open conference play on Wednesday at home against North Carolina Wesleyan at 4 pm.
