poll
FAYETTEVILLE,
N.C. –
The USA
South
Athletic
Conference
released
its 2005
preseason
men’s
soccer
poll on
Wednesday,
and the
Methodist
Monarchs
were
picked
third in
the
seven-team
race.
Methodist
received
25
points
in the
poll
taken by
the head
men’s
soccer
coaches
in the
USA
South.
The
Monarchs
were
picked
behind
defending
USA
South
champion
North
Carolina
Wesleyan,
which
was
picked
as the
preseason
favorite
with 35
points
and five
first
place
votes,
and
Christopher
Newport
with 30
points
and two
first
place
votes.
Greensboro
was
picked
fourth
with 24
points,
followed
by
Shenandoah
(16),
Ferrum
(10) and
Averett
(seven).
Head
coach
Justin
Terranova
enters
his
fourth
season
at
Methodist,
and the
Monarchs
return
seven
starters
off last
season’s
team
that
finished
11-6-2
overall
and
advanced
to the
USA
South
Tournament
Championship
game.
Methodist
opens
the 2005
season
with the
North
Carolina
Wesleyan
Invitational
on Sept.
3-4.
